D1 Grand Prix 2005 USA vs Japan
This exciting weekend composed of U.S. and Japanese drivers going head to head for the honors of winning this exhibition match. In the end, JR Gittin wins it all for Team USA! The Japanese drivers really showed how professional drifting is done, but JR was able to edge out the competition. This marks the first time a U.S. driver has won a D1 event. We present four galleries of the three days of exciting drifting action.

D1 Grand Prix 2005 USA vs Japan - Driver Search and Practice
The first day three for a long weekend of great drifting from U.S. and Japan Drivers. Teams and drivers got a chance to test their cars and drift the track at Irwindale speedway. This practice before qualifying the next day is essential to tune the cars properly according to this high speed track set up. A few U.S. drivers were able to make the cut and get there D1 license in hopes to qualify for the main event.

Congrats to Chris Forsberg for winning the final round of the Formula Drift series. Foresburg burned rubber till the end and even caught a tire on fire. The exciting finale of the 2005 Season came to a closer with Rhys Millen winning the points race and crowning grand Champion for the ‘05 series.

Formula Drift 2005 Irwindale Qualifying

Round 6 of the Formula Drift Finals was held at Irwindale Speedway aka “the House of Drift”. Once again a great day of drifting with tons of smoke and action. There was even an S14 that rode the wall and gave spectators crazy excitement. Our Driftvision S13 was able to qualify as Erik Jacobs drove hard against the competition to make the Top 32.

Formula Drift 2005 Houston - Day 1 Qualifying

Probably THE HOTTEST day of weather for qualifying and drifting ever. Houston had drivers crashing and even flipping cars, but the good spirit of all the drivers helped each other out when accidents did occur. A great day of qualifying as the drift machines fought the heat to survive while the drivers and teams put the vehicles to the test. Our Driftvision S13 sported new Bahama Blue paint under the Toyo Tires banner, which made the long haul from Atlanta with Finishline Motorsports. Check out the action and accidents from the day…
